I have known Tanya for years, and the book sounds exactly like she speaks and acts regarding the Movie Business.
Her track record ,therefore, speaks for itself regarding whether or not her concept of Making Money in the Movei Business is valid or not.
Tanya is a winner, and knows what she speaketh about!!
I recommend that anybody thinking about getting in the business, (or anybody that got in and failed), read this book. It is filled with very worthwhile thought patterns and decision making information.

5 Stars A good read for films makers
I am surprised at the review from “Low Budget Peter”. This book is actually quite good.
Most movies books focus on either the technique or productions, How To Make Money Making Movies is about the business end of the movie making. The only other “similar” book close to How To Make Money Making Movies is From Reel to Deal, but it covers business part of movie making in 4 chapters, while How To Make Money Making Movies goes into details and explain it in 20 chapters.
There are lots of interviews in this book, especially the interview with James Cameron; you can learn a lot from these gurus. The way the book is written is very inspiring; it encourages film makers to plan their dreams, at the same it points out all the possible financial and legal traps down the road.
Since I never went to films schools, I couldn’t verify the book’s claim “it teaches what films school don’t teach you”. But I guess it’s close. It’s a very practical book for future film makers.
5 Stars The Independent Spirit
I recommend this book. I found the book to be motiving and educational. It cuts to the heart of giving insight to filmmakers who want to make films for a living. None of the fluff, stuff. Just hardcore facts, to jump start your career as a filmmaker.
With Mario Van Peebles giving the forward, I think, right there, its worth the price of admission.
5 Stars Great advice, better than wasting money on film school!
I’ve been in the film business for 10 years and wish this book had been written back when I started! It’s practical real-deal advice, not unusable film school crap. Making independent films that make money is nearly impossible in this day-and-age, so I reccommed this book to anyone that plans to invest their time and money to do it. Otherwise you will most likely fail and become bitter and jaded like the reviewer below!

1 Star Don’t Waste You Time
Read this within an hour. Found one or two ideas I had not thought of. Is a little out of date on some of the websites listed

The author claims that if you start the bid at $.99 with no reserve, that no matter what the item is, that you’ll get more for it than you thought you’d get for it.
i don’t know if that’s true. I’ve seen many auctions on eBay where the seller got ripped off because only one person bid on an item, and the bid was for $.99.
While years ago the author sold his Viper using the suggestions in his book and made a profit on it, I don’t think that in today’s market that would happen. Even with his suggestions, things don’t work that way anymore, at least from what I’ve seen happening.
It isn’t a bad ebook. The suggestions are pretty good if you’re auctioning stuff that isn’t expensive and you could afford to lose money on. However, if it is something that really is valuable, you shouldn’t necessarily count on selling it for what it is worth if you follow his suggestions.
5 Stars What can I say…it works!
The copyright on this may be 2004, but if you are just getting started selling on eBay this little gem is invaluable. I followed the advice, and with literally thousands of other products comparable to mine, I was one of the few who actually received bids and sold my items. I attribute everything to the sound principles in this ebook.
It’s fun to read, packed with good tips, and worth the price just for the sample email letters included! I encountered a “Troll” with my first auction, but thanks to this ebook I knew exactly what was happening and what to do.
There may be other books that provide all the technical aspects, but this is the FIRST one you should read if you’re a newbie.
1 Star This book is fine IF…
…you’re looking for good advice for selling a few items on eBay. It has very good advice for maximizing your bids, writing your ad, etc. However, if you’re looking for something to guide you in starting an ongoing eBay business at a high level, this is not the choice to make. In addition, if you are already using eBay to run your “virtual garage sales”, you’re not going to find much here that you don’t already know. So I suppose my 1 star rating is based as much on my expectations and goals as it is the book itself.
4 Stars Suprisingly informative
I’ve just finished this ebook and I am quite pleased. I’ve read a few books of this sort and they are usually just useless fluff, and none really answer the question of what to sell on ebay. This book does do that, and gives pros and cons of different ways to purchase products.
There are a few issues with the book. Its a bit out of date, it was publised in 2004, so some of the information is no longer valid. Also the author doesnt seem to be above slightly shady practices, like misrepresentation(which someone else explained in a previous post), or padding shipping(which everyone clearly does, but still its a bit shady).
I was able to get this from my library’s electronic resources, but I would recommend buying it if you cant do that. Its targeted to fairly new ebayers who have sold a few items and have a feedback of atleast 5 but preferably 10, and are looking to start at least a part-time business.
