User Ratings and Reviews
3 Stars Fair
This book is fair reading, but there are far better books, not to mention that its a bit outdated in material. My recommedation is buy a different book, but if you must have it will do.
1 Star Stuff and fluff
Save your money. Stuffed with appendices of legislation pertaining to credit industry. Poorly written and worse editing with mispellings and repetition.
1 Star Falls short and instills fear of credit bureaus
The main idea of this book is that credit reporting is an unfair process to consumers and more legislation is needed to regulate the industry. The authors paint a grim picture of credit agencies and leads you to believe you should be afraid of them. First of all the book is severely outdated. The book falls short due to the amount of mis-information. For example, it convinces readers that anyone that requests their credit report can obtain one; it advises that credit reports are reviewed when a person applies to college and convinces readers that credit reports are so personal that they contain information about a person’s grooming habits. LOL - come one, get serious! The book is outdated and at least half of it focuses on trying to teach readers how to manipulate the credit-reporting system to have correct data removed from a credit report. In addition, the book is full of contradictions. It claims that credit reporting is done to punish, even torment consumers and that it’s unfair, but a few pages later, the authors state that the intricate system ultimately benefits consumers. Which is it?! It also suggest readers partake in illegal activity in order to obtain a credit report like the ones creditors receive. It tells them to pose as a landlord or employer. This is illegal! Unless you’re a deadbeat with low morals, this book is not for you. I’d recommend The Insider’s Guide to Credit Repair by K.E. Varner for more useful, practical advice.
3 Stars This book should be $5.00 - its like a good pamphlet
This book was disappointing. Buying a book without being able to browse it beforehand makes it difficult to know if its what you want. If I would have been able to skim through this book prior to buying, I would not have bought it. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just that its not what I needed or the title implied. It is not a comprehensive book at all. The title “guerrilla” makes you think it will offer unique, aggressive, insightful, strategic, or uncommonly known tactics to attack your credit repair. It absolutely fell short of that. But what it does deliver is very detailed, easy to follow understanding of BASIC information (what credit is, how to contact the bureaus, what type of letters to send, etc.) It gives you a decent strategy on how to dispute items on your CR. A huge shortcoming for this book is that 100 pages of the 200 page book was given to printing the FCRA (fair credit reporting act). Helpful but a waste. Instead of giving us some “guerrilla tactics” for 100 pages, they print the act instead. If you are really trying to repair your credit and you need real life information and real “guerrilla” tactics then you MUST prepare yourself mentally (it can get legal, psychological and emotional) and use the vast amounts of FREE information and FREE resources available online. Try joining FREE online communities/forums. Avoid people capitalizing on your despair with over-priced credit repair books, credit repair kits, pay-for services (i.e. now bankrupt AmeriDebt) or other books where gazillionaires bloviate about how rich and debt-free THEY are. Good for you. People with poor financial situations and poor credit do need inspiration but people also need practical aggressive ways to get their backs from against the wall. In conclusion, you’d be better off researching online for a few weeks, seeking FREE professional opinions, or checking out books like this one from the library.
4 Stars Sound Advice that Works but….
Updating would be a good thing with recent changes in the FCRA. I read the reviews by others before I read the material myself. Seeing that other reviewers had looked into Bill Bauer who claimed to be an expert on the topic and gave a very negative review and I saw the book was sound raised my curiousity level and I Googled him as well. I think a new book about him would make fascinating reading. Please do not take the negative reviews seriously. They have an agenda.

The Complete Guide To Credit Repair

User Ratings and Reviews
5 Stars This book has given me financial freedom
I was in a big mess. Without going into details - I owed almost $95,000, my yearly income is $45,000 before tax, and I am supporting a family of 3. I live in New York. My apartment rent alone is $1,100. Owed amount was getting bigger and bigger because of the interest. Obviously, I wasn’t eligible any kind of loan.
No money to hire an expert. I didn’t have money to buy many different books. Luckily the one I picked was the right book. Now, I had the will and I had the right book. I owe only $7,000 now. My total credit limit from different credit cards is now $175,000. My bank is willing to give me loan. Didn’t happen overnight or it didn’t happen without any work on my part — but it did work out with the help of this book.
Thank you, Mr. Kelly.
4 Stars A good book to help YOU get started
This book is very helpful. To the reviewers who said there were a bunch of useless forms in the book….yeah if you don’t use them. I mean he tells you what to do, gives you a form to go by all you have to do is work towards your goal…getting that credit score up. What do we expect our credit scores to go up just by purchasing/reading the book? You have to do something.
3 Stars pretty good - I rate it a solid 3.5
Pros - easy to read and concise; good tips on how to establish and re-establish credit; good job explaining the credit reporting process and the importance of credit and the three types of lenders (prime, subprime, and secondary).
Cons - does not include info about credit scoring; steps for fixing credit are too cumbersome for the average consumer to follow; tips for how to strengthen credit are ineffective, outdated, misleading - such as having account added to your credit record - the agencies don’t do that anymore. incorrect data about the length of time chapter 13 bankruptcies stay on credit reports; sample letters are too vague.
The book could have been more detailed to help readers fully grasp credit. It’s a good introdution to credit that wiill leave you seeking more information. recommendation - The Insider’s Guide to credit Repair by K.E. Varner and Your Credit Score by Liz Weston.
2 Stars Sucked.
I’m giving this two stars, because it’s better then nothing, but it’s just a giant listing of form letters and a boring algorithm to follow. I suppose it might actually work, but it doesn’t give you an insight or knowledge you can use to work the system like the Gorilla Guide does. I ordered the two books at once figuring I’d read both, and this one flat out sucked.
4 Stars Solid info. Easy to read
This book is great if you want to challenge inaccurate or “old” credit files reported by the big three agencies. The book provides a plethera of letters & follow-up letters to challenge the false reports. In addition, it offers up ways to negotiate payment plans w/your creditors.

Anyone with credit problems can solve them and repair any damage if they have the right tools and take the right actions. The Credit Repair Answer Book explains that dealing with credit problems is a combination of understanding what credit is and is not; understanding what one’s credit rights are; understanding to what extent a creditor can go to collect a debt; and, understanding what to do if an invalid or illegal action is taken by creditors in the collection process.
A section on the most frequently asked questions with extensive answers helps the reader quickly grasp the value of good credit and know how to ensure that credit errors or potential credit problems do not affect your credit rating in the long term.
The Credit Repair Answer Book can get anyone back on the right track and turn their financial situation around.

3 Stars Depends on what you’re looking for…
I was looking for a serious, detailed text on disputing items on my credit report, first with the CRAs, then with the collectors and finally with the furnishers. I did not find what I was seeking in this title.
This book (like many others) has a short, helpful but brief section on disputes. Most of the book is devoted to ‘understanding’ and ‘improving,’ and not to ‘repairing.’
Frankly, I’ve found the most amount of helpful info online, simply by googling ‘bad + credit + help + sample + letters.’
[STANDARD DISCLAIMER]
if you’re reading this review, you are hereby obligated to write your own. if not on this product than on another. c’mon. you know you want to. and if you don’t, you should feel obligated. every time i buy anything from coffee mugs to clothing steamers, i find myself perusing amazon to see what everyone else said about it. this is an invaluable FREE resource unlike some other websites (ahem, consumerreportsucks, ahem excuse me!) which let you use it for, like, 3 days and then start charging your credit card on a monthly basis which effectively bleeds dry anyone who’s ever just wanted to look up the damn list of good vaccum cleaners. phew.
moral of story = do your civic duty: write a review!
4 Stars This Is A “I Goota Have It” Book
This book is worth every penny and plus some. If you are interested in improving your credit score, this book IS the answer. It takes you step by step process in composing letters, what to ask of the credit bureau. Even touches on idenity thief and plus how to dispute in any case, and a lot more, too much to mention. Highly recommended.

5 Stars A Must Read !!
I bought this book a few years ago out of desperation, due to a divorce and an ex-husband destroying my perfect credit. This book enabled me to repair my credit and take the proper steps in a very difficult situtation. Things I never knew I was able to learn how to do. I am buying the updated version of this book and I lend it out all the time. I highly recommend this book.
4 Stars GOOD INFORMATION
I was a little disappointed since most of it was information I already new, but it may not be the case with everyone. Needless to say there is still some good information in the book and the CD has some great letter assists that are worth the price.
4 Stars Great info!
As some others have mentioned, most of the information in this book is available for free. However, for the price, having useful, effective information like this in an easy to use format is well worth it.
1 Star Very Little Useful Information
This book provided very little information thats is not already available for free. Do a search on credit repair or credit reporting and you will get all the information you need on the internet.
The entire credit reporting act was quoted. Rather than a useful interpretation, the reader is left to go through 50+ pages of legaleze. BTW, the law is public, therefore can be found without buying the book — which adds no additional value.
5 Stars Credit Repair 7th edition
I found this book to be very informative and helpfull. I have used it has a guide in helping repair my own credit. I recommend it to many.

The Road to 850 Proven Strategies for Increasing Your Credit Score

This is one book you must have! As a result of the credit crisis, many financial institutions have raised their credit score requirements over 100 points to qualify and to get the best interest rates. Because of credit scores, almost 50% of Americans are now considered less than prime and could be charged higher rates and fees. Medical services and insurance premiums also use credit scores modeled after the FICO. Credit scores are impacting everyone from every angle.
The Road to 850 provides a much greater background and understanding to the credit scoring system than any previously published book. It describes all the reason codes in great detail and how credit risk is scored. The Road to 850 explains the four critical ratios, the four important dates and the four levels of delinquency with detailed explanations, examples and displays. Lastly, it provides 94 proven strategies and identifies the necessary requirements for a credit score in the golden range — 760 to 850.
The Road to 850 has received rave reviews from many readers:
Great book!
What an excellent book! Easy to read. Thanks a lot for giving us the opportunity
to get to 850!,
My book is filled with great information, some of which I have never heard
before despite an abiding interest in the subject and previous research. Id
recommend it to anyone who wants to raise his score, even if its already a high
one. This book is priceless.
The Road to 850 has been highlighted by Kurtis Ming (KOVR / CBS in Sacramento), Nicole Crites (KPHO / CBS in Phoenix), Bill Gephardt (KUTV / CBS in Salt Lake City), Paula Ebbers (WBZ / CBS in Boston) and a host of other national television and radio reporters.
The Road to 850 gives you ideas and strategies to raise your scores no matter what your situation. Whether you have a 725 or a 525 credit score, this is one book you must have to better understand the credit scoring system and improve your credit scores.
User Ratings and Reviews
5 Stars This book helped raise my score from 620 to 750 in 3 weeks!!!
This book is a must for everyone, because EVERYONE needs a raise in their credit score, especially in today’s economy.
I have been looking to refinance my home with a credit score average of 620 and it wasn’t working out so well. I used advice and insight from this book and got my score up to a 750 average in 3 weeks! I really didn’t have any money to work with either. Of course, paying off your credit lines is the best way to get your score up, but I was very surprised to learn a few new tricks to do so without even having to pay much off! The credit score system is ridiculous and if you think you know it all, you don’t!
I love how well this book is organized. It makes rather difficult insights easy to understand and easy to put into action and it really doesn’t take much reading to get there.
Thanks to the authors and researchers who put this together, no other book or website I could find even compares.
5 Stars Very Well Written
Al Bingham does a great job of unraveling the mystery of credet scores. Not only is the information great, but the presentation is also excellent. Its easy to read. No need for a college degree to interpret what is said. If you want to know what factors are used to create credit scores and how you can improve your score, this is the book for you.
5 Stars Best Credit Book ever!
Excellent book. Very well written. I learned more from this book in one evening than I thought I ever could. Al Bingham explains the myteries of credit and credit scores in a way that is easy to undestand. I felt I was pretty savvy when it came to understanding my credit score but little did I know. Highly recommended. The best money I have spent on a book in a long time. A+
